Hi all,
I (at the second attempt) installed kahel on to my sony vaio laptop. However, maybe its not that successfully installed as it does not get past the splash screen. I have tried hitting esc and fl to see any messages, but again the splash screen will not disappear.
any ideas?
hi .. are you using a nvidia graphic card ?
based on my own expirience.. ( me using nvidia graphic card..) i couldnt even get to the boot splash screen...due to KMS
i had to disable it from grub...before able to get to gdm..
if you are using ati radeon card...please edit grub boot with this additional line
radeon.modeset=0
if you are using nvidia
nouveau.modset=0
i think it should be something like that....it worked for me

My graphics is controlled by intel something like i960, and it must be working as I can see the splash screen.

um...you could try i960.modset=0
to first disable the bootsplash .
Therefore , you than will be able to see what was they underlying problem
I have had this same problem. I had set grub to show the screen for 0 seconds and then continue. Of course the first time it went to a green screen with lines down the screen. It then told me later on that my drive was set to read only and to fix this to hit ctrl d which I did and it rebooted to only go to a pink screen. I have an nvidia card. I might work on this or may just install arch linux again as I have had to many issues with this so far.
hm control d to reboot not to fix issue i presume
u should enter your root password at the mention of control d...
