Note file system is currently read only. One issue, I have it operating on my old Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600. Has Trident Video with 16mb. I've been to change the display in preferences, but only 800x600? I previously ran Ubuntu 9.10 in 1024x768 with no issue though earlier versions required a change to xorg.conf file? Im having trouble installing Kahel. When the installation asks me if i have a software-raid and if i want to install grub on another hdd i chose 'No' and then nothing happens. Ive tried to install this three or four times. Everytime its the same. I first tried the 32-bit version burned on a cd and then i tried the 64-bit version on a usb-stick. No difference. I checked the md5sums both times and they are fine. I have installed Arch linux several times without problem, so i have no idea whats wrong. KahelOS is nice. I was using Ubuntu and thought I'd give KahelOS a go. Problem is though that once installed, the screen only is 800x600 and yet should be 1024x768. In earlier versions of Ubuntu I would change the settings in xorg.conf, but there is no such file here. Can some kind soul help? Its a Beta release....( Yes , even though its a beta , it is stable enough for daily use ) In Beta , the main issue i was tackling were stability and usability... Therefore , some of the intended applications have yet to be added. For starters...:) By Default , Kahel Community Edition Live CD comes with 2 window managers LXDE ( LXDE has came a long way and its really much of a DE rather than just a WM but still remains really light and sleek :) ) Enlightenment 17 ( A nice and shiny window manager :D ...Rather light on system resources considering all the eye-candy it provides :) ) I have included LXDM ( Yes :D LXDE's own display manager :D ) and LXDM is the default Display manager for Kahel Community Edition LXDM is light , sleek and the usage of it is rather intuitive :D In Enlightenment , you will notice there is no networkmanager applet ....or any other applets for that matter ...This is so as by default , Enlightenment does not have a systray .Fortunately , Networkmanager is still running the background...so there will be Internet connectivity :) However , this can be easily modified to suit your needs. If you ever need a systray , enable the systray from Enlightenments modules and gadgets :) They provide a wide variety of nice gadgets :) To install Kahel community Edition , click on the install icon in the menus :)It shouldnt be to hard to miss it...It is a nice gui installer :) If in any case the installers fails to start ...type sudo python /opt/larchin/run/larchin.py Yep ^^ ...Few Reasons why i am really unwilling to move to the new larch 7 installer is cause of the new dependencies needed...like pyqt ..Therefore taking more space than actually needed...Plus larch 7 is not ready yet.. Firefox is good ...but rather bloated and heavy ...couldnt get it to fit into the iso size limit ...) I have been adding all distros of mine to Grub using this formula: title Slackware 13.0 root (hd0,"x-1") [x-1 = dev partition -1] kernel /boot/vmlinuz ro root=/dev/sda"x" [x = dev partition number] it is working fine, just about Chakra (Arch Linux based) the right formula is: title Chakra Alpha 4 -New Age- root (hd0,13) kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/sda14 ro initrd /boot/kernel26.img both of them are not good for Kahel. Please, could you suggest me the right formula to add Kahel on Grub? I am Italian and I know that my English language is not fluent; please, apologize me for that. Best Regards from Botswana :)
