In trying to install Kahelos 050510 into Virtualbox, I ran into an error message at the installation of Grub: /mnt/boot/grub/menu.lst couldn't be found. At that point I couldn't see any way to access the system to figure out what was the matter. At partitioning, I had chosen to do the partitions myself instead of letting KahelOS do them. I made two partitions: sda1, 9500 MB ext3 bootable; sda5, 512 MB swap. I reinstalled twice more but hung up the same way each time.

I couldn't locate anything in the wiki or other documentation about this, but several forum threads seemed to indicate that there MUST be a separate partition for /boot, 256 KB or more, and formatted ext2. On my fourth install (:^>) I created the /boot partition, 384 KB, ext2. Grub was found and installed fine, and my Kahel system finally booted.

So, there MUST be a separate partition for /boot, 256 KB or larger, formatted ext2.

Hey!

Im having trouble installing Kahel. When the installation asks me if i have a software-raid and if i want to install grub on another hdd i chose 'No' and then nothing happens.

Ive tried to install this three or four times. Everytime its the same. I first tried the 32-bit version burned on a cd and then i tried the 64-bit version on a usb-stick. No difference. I checked the md5sums both times and they are fine.

I have installed Arch linux several times without problem, so i have no idea whats wrong.

Hope someone out there have something to say :)

Hi All :)

Recently I have been discovering Kahel and installing it on my computer desktop, but it is not starting at boot; I have been not installing Kahel's Grub, thinking to add it on my Grub (Grub, not Grub2) already installed on my machine.
I have been adding all distros of mine to Grub using this formula:

title Slackware 13.0
root (hd0,"x-1") [x-1 = dev partition -1]
kernel /boot/vmlinuz ro root=/dev/sda"x" [x = dev partition number]

it is working fine, just about Chakra (Arch Linux based) the right formula is:

title Chakra Alpha 4 -New Age-
root (hd0,13)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/sda14 ro
initrd /boot/kernel26.img

both of them are not good for Kahel. Please, could you suggest me the right formula to add Kahel on Grub?
I am Italian and I know that my English language is not fluent; please, apologize me for that.

Best Regards from Botswana :)

First of all, Thanks for making this great distro based on Arch including Gnome. I have tried a couple of times installing Arch with Gnome and it hasn't worked out until now with Kahel( I just can't seem to like KDE4).There is good selection of software and all the admin is set up well.

My only problems I had was with grub install at setup.I tried to install grub to the root partition and the setup froze. Ctrl-Alt-F2 then login root.Type in grub, find /boot/grub/stage1, root(hd0,3)(or whatever your mbr or root partition is) and then setup (hd0,3). Don't worry about the errors, it will boot into Kahel fine. I had this problem on two different machines. A Dell inspiron 6400 and a custom desktop. Both grub setups going to root partition.

My other problem is covered here http://www.kahelos.org/forum/topic.php?id=25. Booting into a white screen.(just had to disable compiz)

This will be staying on my machines. Just get the people at Arch happy with the copyright and use of there repositories. Things will be smooth sailing from there. This is a very well done distro with Gnome.
Thanks for the work you have done.
